First weeks checklist
- Submit documents for temporary residence (Residencia Temporal). The application is submitted only in person, so this must be done while already in Paraguay. Details are in the section Residencia Temporal.
- Translate documents into Spanish. The migration service only accepts translations from a certified translator within Paraguay; translations made at home will not be accepted.
- Obtain a Cédula. After your Residencia Temporal is approved, you receive a national identity card (Cédula de Identidad) — with it, you can open an account, work, and rent housing.
- Obtain a tax ID (RUC) and a bank account. Both steps are done using the Cédula.
- Resolve everyday issues. Housing, communications, and shopping — guides for these are in preparation (see the cards above).
